Capturing Group Fashion Photography

Posing groups is one of the things I like the least about portrait photography. However, I think when doing fashion group photography, it gets a little easier because you can do more exaggerated poses and get more creative. One of the most important thing about group fashion photography is that all the models in the group need to look like that have a connection. Sometimes it is awkward to look at a group fashion picture and one is smiling and the other model is doing a super serious face. They need to be connected and know what they are doing and aiming for. Also the setting needs to match the clothing and the type of poses the models are doing in the group fashion photoshoot. One of my biggest inspirations for group fashion photography is looking at Vogue magazine http://www.vogue.com/ .

I took this group fashion photography project in the Girls Reformatory in St. Anthony, Idaho. I really like the results. Two of this group fashion pictures were done with the light painting technique.
